Wow, excellent job! How did you do the skin? Did you have to use a spray, or cake stage paint?

My god, I wish I had a spray.. lol I've been seriously considering investing in an airbrush because the amount of time I spend on mixing colors and then applying them by hand is quite insane!

After applying loose powder to my face, I used Mehron cream makeup and then a sealer to keep it as stable as possible.

I have tried cake makeup, mainly for the cosplays I've done that have alabaster skin, and it sweats off too easily, flakes away. I'm always experimenting though!

I agree with VelvetPsychoKiller, nice except for the wig. It's not too hard to find a pinik one with blue hilights. ^^

I do actually have blue highlights sewn in, just not so many. It was impossible to find a wig the color I wanted in the short amount of time so I had to make do!

I see; are you unable to use eBay? Because I found one on eBay in a few seconds. If you don't, it's a definite suggestion for future cosplays! It's where I get my wigs. :)

Ebay is where I would normally order but I had to have this costume done in three weeks (by done I mean photo shoot completely done and images formatted for submission). The vendors I normally order wigs from take 14-22 working days, which is way longer than I had time for. I love Ebay... I don't love the pain of international post service wait times! haha

Yikes! That's a super long time to wait! Well, even without the wig it turned out super well. I hope if you ever order another wig you post more pictures!

If I do, I will definitely! :) I think I might wear this to Comic-Con, it would be a good excuse to buy one I'm happier with ;)

The wig was the only thing I wasn't super happy with, I talked a bit about that in the "how-to" album. Basically I had less than three weeks to find all my supplies and it was the best I could do. Normally I order my wigs from Asia and they take a month and a half to receive, then I modify them with extensions and styling.

I did actually sew in blue highlights but I was only able to put about six in, it was hard to find anything the correct length. It was not a cheap wig by any means, just impossible to find the correct color of the same quality in the short amount of time.

I understand! Time is always a problem for us cosplayers... and when you buy from Asia it's kinda a challenge! :XD:
Anyways I didn't mean it was a cheap wig: I can see it's good quality! I just thought basically what you wrote as well: it's a bit too bright and the light blue meches kinda disappear... and maybe it's also a bit too short...
But I like you cosplay nonetheless! :D

Haha okay :) Thanks! The wig was a stressor for sure, but I'm sure you can agree that we cosplayers will make do with whatever we can find!

How long did it take you to make it?
Reply
:iconsmashworks:
smashworks Featured By Owner Mar 17, 2013
About three weeks, by the time I decided on the character I had very little time to find the materials, draw the graphics to silk screen on the fabric, and put it all together. I couldn't tell you how long in hours though.. It was one of those projects I didn't want to know lol

My Toralei which was much more intensive took 97H56MIN (I recorded the times precisely for a project I was working on), just for reference.

Actually, Mattel officially sponsored this cosplay and approached me! I will likely wear it at SDCC but I need to get a different wig that is more like her Scaris color.
